The Scouting Experience

“Your journey through Scouting is a truly once-in-a-lifetime experience.”

In the time you are a Scout, you can expect to learn a multitude of life skills—from simple tasks like tying a square knot to critical lifelong values like companionship. Troop 449 is filled with dedicated leaders and peers who are here to help and guide you every step of the way.

About Our Troop

We have been proudly contributing to the northern Fremont community since 1967.

• School Year Meetings: Cabrillo Elementary School

• Summer Meetings: Crandall Creek Park

🤝 Inclusive Community

Troop 449 is a relatively small, inclusive, and friendly troop of around two dozen active Scouts across various ages and backgrounds.

🌲 Adventures & Service

Our troop stays highly active throughout the year with a wide range of outdoor activities and community events:

• Outdoors: Hikes, bike rides, and regular campouts

• Community Service: Food drives and service projects that make completing the 40-hour high school community service requirement easy

• Summer Camp: Our most notable event of the year is a week-long summer camping trip packed with fun, unique activities and unforgettable experiences!

Troop 449 takes pride in running on a youth-led leadership model. Responsibilities and decisions ultimately rest on the Scouts rather than the adults, building essential real-world leadership skills.

The Eagle Scout rank is the highest achievement in Scouting America, unlocking unique benefits for college admissions, scholarships, and careers.

• Scouting National Average: 5% – 10%

• Troop 449 Success Rate: 80% (8 of our last 10 graduating Scouts earned Eagle!)
